Hertfordshire... A fulfilling journey

Brief: Understated, home, warm, architecture, living, inviting and a twist on contemporary were key points. To really listen and understand how the homeowners wanted to live in the home, to understand that the lighting should be soft, consider contrast of light room by room carefully and appropriately. Maximise the style of the home at every opportunity, but not making a drama of it.

Our technical director Ashley really ‘got’ this project from design concept and delivered a truly amazing lighting solution. Deeply focusing on the brief, considerable communication before even opening a CAD drawing and frequent calls to the architect was the key to this great success.

Utilising many different lighting concepts across a variety of rooms styles and uses we captured how this home was envisaged right at the start of the project. The lower basement was particularly interesting with a clean technical workshop with viewing snug being a highlight.

A warm cladding across the upper corridor with glazed roof was lit via integrated wall luminaires unaffecting the architectural merit. Clever yet simple lighting techniques were implemented to provide an infinity feel to the end wall that drew you through the upper level.

A full Lutron Homeworks QS lighting controls solution enables all areas of the home to interact with each other, meaning this family home exceeds each individual expectation and desire.

This new build evolved over time, but it absolutely was worth the wait with every element of the extremely detailed design fulfilling the homeowners dream, of a fabulous family home.
